About Rushaunna

Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly when navigating stress, relationship challenges, grief, life transitions, anxiety, or experiences that leave you feeling stuck or disconnected from yourself.

As a Master of Social Work student at York University and an Associate Therapist in Training at Soul Care Christian Counselling & Consulting, I am passionate about creating compassionate, non-judgmental spaces where individuals feel safe to explore their experiences, recognize their strengths, and move toward healing and well-being.

I recognize that seeking support can be a vulnerable step, particularly within Black and immigrant communities, where cultural expectations, mental health stigma, trauma, and systemic barriers can impact one's sense of safety and belonging in therapeutic spaces.

My approach is grounded in trauma-informed, strengths-based, culturally responsive, and anti-oppressive practices, with the option to integrate faith-based principles. I am particularly drawn to Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

My professional experience includes working in community-based settings, supporting individuals navigating complex social circumstances, emotional distress, life transitions, and crises. I also bring experience in advocacy and connecting individuals with meaningful resources and support.

I recognize the privilege and responsibility of being invited into someone's story. I approach this work with humility, curiosity, and compassion, meeting each person where they are.

I believe healing is a collaborative journey, and it would be an honour to walk alongside you as you explore your experiences, discover your strengths, and take meaningful steps toward your personal goals.
