About Jessica
Human. Healing. Becoming. These three words reflect the posture I bring to my work with clients: honouring our shared humanity, creating space for healing, and embracing becoming as an ongoing journey of growth and transformation.
As a clinical social worker, Christian therapist, and founder of Soul Care Christian Counselling & Consulting in Edmonton, Alberta, I have over a decade of experience in social work, mental health, community development, and advocacy. My work is rooted in trauma-informed care, cultural responsiveness, and an Afrocentric perspective, with a deep commitment to creating safe and affirming spaces for healing.
As a Black woman with lived experiences of trauma, I am passionate about decolonizing spaces of healing and supporting Black women and racialized communities while welcoming individuals of all backgrounds, cultures, and faith traditions.
I hold an Honours Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a Master's degree in Social Work from York University. My clinical work focuses on trauma recovery, anxiety and depression, racial identity, life transitions, relationships, emotional well-being, and holistic self-care. I also offer faith-integrated counselling for individuals who wish to incorporate their Christian beliefs into the therapeutic process.
Beyond the therapy room, I serve as the Executive Pastor at Freedom Life Church in Edmonton. My work in both clinical practice and pastoral ministry has shaped my passion for bridging the gap between faith and mental health, equipping individuals and communities to pursue holistic well-being.
My Christian faith is central to who I am and how I live, yet I honour each person's unique beliefs, experiences, and journey. Faith integration is always optional.
At the heart of all I do is a conviction that healing is possible, wholeness is worth pursuing, and every person deserves the opportunity to grow into who they were created to be. Above all, I believe that "it is the will of the Father that you are well."
